In providing information to NSW Crime Stoppers (Crime Stoppers) you will remain anonymous (that is to say that details relating to your identity and the other identity details that you provide to Crime Stoppers, including as to the identity of others (Confidential Details)) will not be disclosed, and will remain unknown to/untraced by the NSW Police and/or any other law enforcement agency unless:

• it is determined by the NSW Police that there is a public interest in the disclosure of the Confidential Details to law enforcement agencies (including the NSW Police Force), which will generally be the case where such disclosure is for the purpose of prevention and detection of ‘serious crime.’ Crime that falls into the following categories would be considered ‘serious crime’ but please note that such categories are not intended to limit what would be considered ‘serious crime’:
  • homicide, terrorist attack or serious risk to life;
  • serious injury or risk of serious injury to any person;
  • serious environmental crime that is likely to cause major environmental damage;
  • serious economic crime that is likely to cause major economic loss to the community; and
  • other serious crime, such as robbery, rape or arson
• any part of the Confidential Details is required to be disclosed by any law or process of law, or to be disclosed to any court, tribunal, governmental or regulatory authority which is entitled to require disclosure of such information; or
• you have provided your consent to the disclosure of Confidential Details to the NSW Police Force or other law enforcement agency.
