January 2019 information was received at Crime Stoppers in relation to cannabis being cultivated in the Tweed Heads area.
As a result of this information police from Tweed/Byron Police attended the location on the same date and located 22 cannabis plants.
The estimated value of the seized drug was $44000. The male resident was charged.
At 11pm on Sunday 11th of November 2018 a 51 year old female was walking along a walking track in Lighthorse Park, Liverpool. A male person has then approached the 51-year-old female and punched her in the head and face about 15 times. The male person has sexually assaulted the female. The female was able to scream for help at which time the male person has decamped from the area. Assistance was sought from the public in relation to the identity of the male person.
Seven separate contacts to Crime Stoppers were received nominating the same male as the person of interest. It is further outlined in the fact sheet that the male suspect also contacted Crime Stoppers indicating that he was the person of interest in the related media release. As a result of this information the nominated suspect was arrested by Liverpool police on the 24th November, 2018 and charged with ‘Aggravated Sexual Assault’.
Information received at Crime Stoppers suggested an address in Galston NSW was making drugs. A search warrant was then requested and granted. A search of the premises found: * 1200L of Methylamphetamine, A custom made 1000 Litre stainless steel chemical reaction vessel capable of being used to produce large amounts of prohibited drugs, Prohibited drug precursors Ephedrine and chloropseudoephedrine, Drug precursor chemicals in iodine, red phosphorus, hydrochloric acid, acetone, caustic soda and other identified and unidentified chemicals, 1.391kg of Cannabis with a total value $ 240 041 730. 1 person was charged with 4 serious drug related offences. Matter is currently pending in court for mention (this was from an arrest in Dec 2016).
Information was received at Crime Stoppers regarding a female person smuggling contraband into gaols. The female was arrested at Parklea Correctional Centre as a result of smuggling contraband into the centre where she had passed an item to a prisoner whom she was visiting. The female was charged with 1 count of ‘Bring/attempt to bring thing into a place of detention w/o authorisation’. The matter went before Blacktown Local Court where the female was found guilty on the charge. The female was sentenced and received a fine of $1000.
Information was supplied to Crime Stoppers that nominated a POI who was involved in the supply of prohibited drugs. The POI was utilising Australia Post and closed Facebook groups to sell the drugs. The investigation into the activities of the accused and his involvement in the supply of prohibited drugs. The Accused utilises Facebook to advertise the sale of MDMA, cocaine, methylamphetamine and steroids. The Accused advertises the sale of these drugs in large quantities up to kilograms. The Accused directs customers to utilise encrypted messaging application ‘Wickr’ to place orders for prohibited drugs. Numerous controlled operation identified the POI utilising both the mail system and social media platforms to facilitate the supply of prohibited drugs. All three were placed under arrest. Their vehicles were searched, and $240000 cash was located in hidden compartments. Also located in the co-accused car was 630g cocaine. A subsequent search warrant located a further $27,400 in cash, vials, tablets and powder – suspected to be steroids. All three were bail refused.
In June, 2018 a 12 year old girl was walking to school in the Newcastle area. On route to school she was kidnapped and taken to a nearby park where she was sexually assaulted a number of times by a male person not known to her. These serious sexual assaults were committed upon the young child for many hours prior to her being let go at a nearby train station. Newcastle City conducted a media release asking for community support in relation to the identity of the unknown male offender. As a result of the media release a call was received at Crime Stoppers on the 14th June, identifying a male person and vehicle. On the 16th June this male person was arrested by police and his vehicle seized. He was consequently charged with 11 offences including kidnapping and serious sexual assault offences. After his arrest a further six information reports were created by Crime Stoppers in relation to the accused person and his behaviours/movements.
A shoplifting incident occurred at an adult shop in Kempsey. The incident was captured on CCTV and posted on social media. As a result, 2 calls to Crime Stoppers nominated an offender, who was charged with stealing 4 adult accessories and 2 items of clothing. The matter has been finalised at court and the offender was sentenced to 5 months imprisonment.

A Crime Stoppers tip-off has led to police seizing cannabis with an estimated potential street value of more than $1 million in Sydney’s north-west, NSW Police say.
It was one two hydroponic cannabis houses uncovered by Rosehill Local Area Command during raids today.
Officers from the Rosehill Proactive Crime Team assisted by the South West Metropolitan Region Enforcement Squad executed a search warrant at the first house, at Kissing Point Road, Dundas, about 8.30am yesterday. The raid was a direct result of a tip-off to Crime Stoppers.
Information provided to NSW Crime Stoppers will become the property of NSW Police Force.
